End of Summer Update (and a Goodreads Giveaway)

Happy Labor Day Weekend!! I have no idea where the summer went, but I can’t lie. I’m looking forward to some cooler weather. I didn’t get done nearly as much as I wanted to, but that’s okay. I’ve been pretty busy with book stuff even if it doesn’t feel like I’ve made much progress. I’ve actually been polishing up a couple of my older books, and if you’re in the mood for a happily ever after that has fall vibes, Rescue Me might just be what you’re looking for. It’s available on Kindle, in Kindle Unlimited, and Paperback. https://www.amazon.com/Rescue-Me-Billionaire-Standalone-Romance-ebook/dp/B0BGT13LPR

Since I’ve been working on getting Loss and Damages ready to go and dusting off some of my older titles, that means I’m really itching to start writing again. I can’t wait to start working on a new book, and that’s what I’ll be doing for the rest of the year. I’m excited because that means I’ll have two books out next year–Wicked Games, a small town romantic suspense, and Bitter Love, a small town second chance. Both are standalones, something I’ve been enjoying writing lately.

So, bookmark this website or sign up to the blog for cover reveals, ARC signups, and more!

Enjoy the holiday!

Fridays and Freebies: A Little Bookish Boost

Now that I have your attention, I just wanted to pop on here quick to tell you a couple things before your weekend starts! I don’t have big plans… I work Saturdays and Sundays so I can have Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays off. I think it’s a fair trade since no one likes getting up on a Monday morning and having to go to work. I’m lucky I work at a job that allows me to do that, and I have never taken it for granted.

Tonight I’ll be be editing Loss and Damages (oh, the glamorous life of a writer… but at least I’ll be in my pajamas and I have ice cream!) and going to bed early. Breathing just wipes me out, but there’s nothing better than working on my book for a couple hours in silence before going to bed.

My friend Melody is looking for ARC readers for her storm-chasing novel aptly titled, Into the Storm. It’s the fourth book in her Storm Series, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. Here’s the blurb:

He chases tornadoes, but he only wanted to catch her…

Storm chaser Austin Jones loves an adrenaline rush. With his YouTube channel gaining popularity and an opportunity to chase tornadoes on television, he’s living the dream. When a close encounter with a twister sends him to the hospital, the last person he expects to stitch him up is his high school sweetheart. Seeing her again feels like fate.

The storm that shattered Lizzie James’s life may be long gone, but the damage was never repaired. After a tornado tore through her hometown—taking her parents and destroying everything—she swore she’d never go back. Haunted by nightmares and burdened by anxiety, she’s done her best to forget that day. But when her former boyfriend ends up in her ER, the memories she buried come rushing back.

Despite every instinct telling her to stay away, Lizzie finds herself back in Texas—where Austin is eager to remind her of what they once had. But his reckless devotion to storm chasing is a risk she cannot ignore. Determined to control the situation—and maybe protect Austin from himself—Lizzie makes a bold choice. She’ll face her fears, literally, and join Austin for the chase. If she can’t stop him from risking his life, at least she can help keep him safe.

As another violent tornado threatens the region, Lizzie has a sinking feeling that Austin is about to make a dangerous call. This time, the real storm is the one inside Austin—torn between chasing the next tornado and holding on to the woman he loves. Because some storms you chase…and others you have to weather together to find out what really matters.

My Rocky Point Wedding Series Giveaway is finally ready!

I am so happy to say that I finally got all my copies of my Rocky Point Wedding Series and I can host my giveaway!

I’m giving away two signed paperback copies of the series, and I will ship to the US and Canada. If you enter but live elsewhere, I’ll happily email you PDFs of the series.

These books are a little older, written in 3rd person, and they’re small-town holiday romances with a few open-door sexy scenes in each book. I published them back in 2020, but since then I have re-edited them and gave them fresh covers. If you want to read the blurbs before you enter, you can find them on my books page here: https://vmrheault.com/books/books-as-vania-rheault/

To enter, fill out this Google Form, and I will draw two names on March 1st. I asked if you want to be added to this newsletter as this blog post and giveaway link will go out to more than just my subscribers, but if your answer no, it won’t affect your chances of winning.

Thank you for being a reader, and I wish you good luck!

Fall Leaves and Stray Cats

It’s already been a week and it’s only Wednesday. I hope this means the rest of the year will go by smoothly. My daughter’s new computer was defective and the store let us jump through some hoops to replace it. Then in the middle of making dinner on Monday night my microwave decided to die. I mean, it was almost 20 years old, so I guess it was time, but replacing it and driving the old one to the recycle place took more time than I would have liked. Then, on the same night, my Mac decided to crash. After reinstalling the operating software, it seems to be fine, but only time will tell. I’ve never had a bad experience with my Apple products, so cross your fingers for me it was just a fluke. Bad things come in threes, right? Hopefully, I’m done now.

Last week my daughter, my sister, and I went to Maplewood State Park in near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. The leaves were full of reds, oranges, yellows, and browns and were beautiful. It was a bit rainy that day, but I was still able to take some amazing pictures. We spent the afternoon hiking then tried a new restaurant for dinner. It was the perfect day.

There’s a stray black cat that’s been around our neighborhood for the past couple of years. I get really sad about it because I think she matches a poster for a missing cat that’s been up light poles for just as as long. (The owners were smart and laminated them.) There’s no chance I can catch her, she’s too skittish. I buy cat food and put it out and every morning it’s gone. I don’t know if it’s the kitty or the bunnies as I have caught them eating out of the bowl, too. Someone is getting fed at least. For the past few months I put an ice cream bucket of water out for the animals. We had such a dry summer and fall, but it looks like normal fall weather is kicking in. It’s rainy and cool today, perfect for staying inside and snuggling with a cup of coffee and a good book.

Just a quick reminder that if you want to enter the Goodreads giveaway for Cruel Fate, the giveaway ends October 25th. There are over 1500 entries, and I’m so happy people are showing interest in the series! You can find the giveaway here: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/enter_kindle_giveaway/397874-cruel-fate

The second book, Cruel Hearts, will be releasing on the 28th! I’m so excited readers will be able to get their hands on the second installment of this serial soon! It’s on sale right now for $1.99 if you want to preorder it before then, or it will be available in Kindle Unlimited! Check it out: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DGM8V82R

That’s all I have for today. I hope you are having a wonderful fall and if you celebrate Halloween, stay safe! We’re going to carve pumpkins this year, but I think I’ll leave the guts in mine and set it out on my balcony for the squirrels. I love feeding those little guys. 🙂

I’ll check in with you soon! Have a great day!

Sweater Weather and a Goodreads Giveaway

Black male/female couple standing under autumn leaves smiling at each other

For the past four weeks, Minnesota has been blessed with some beautiful weather, and I’ve been enjoying it particularly since this time of year can be very rainy. The sunshine has definitely perked my spirits up, and I hope the weather in your area has been treating you well, too.

The past year and a half was nothing but getting my King’s Crossing series ready to publish. I ate, slept, and breathed those characters, in some way shape or form since 2020, and, more recently, working non-stop so they were ready to finally be released. That takes a lot of time and energy for an author, especially for such a big project like that, and you’d think that after I wrapped those up I would have taken a break. I did, for a little bit, a few days, maybe, but I’m not good at relaxing, I suppose, and decided to go back to 2018 when I published my small-town Christmas series and give them new wrapping and brand new bows. I’m redoing their covers and re-editing them, and I’m hoping I’ll have them ready for a fresh re-launch in December. I’ll keep you updated.

So that’s what I’ve been working on, and I’m not sure what I’ll do after that’s over. A real break is long overdue, but I like writing, so I’ll probably keep working on a standalone I have planned to release next summer after my King’s Crossing series is completely out. That will be a big change, but it will be welcome and I love the characters.

The last thing I wanted to tell you about is Cruel Fate, the first book in my King’s Crossing series, is up for grabs in a Goodreads giveaway! Over a thousand people have already entered, and I’m giving away 100 ebook copies! If you want to enter, even if you downloaded an ARC and want to help pump up my numbers, you can look here: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/enter_kindle_giveaway/397874-cruel-fate

I’m really awed and humbled so many people have shown interest in my series, and a sincere thank you to everyone who has made Cruel Fate‘s launch a success!

That’s all I have for today. I was a little heavy with the posts as my series launched, and I’ll ease up now. I’ll leave you with a picture of a squirrel eating a corncob on my balcony. I love feeding those little guys. They’re so cute!

As always, if you haven’t read it yet, my billionaire, ugly-duckling standalone, My Biggest Mistake is free as a thank you for reading and (hopefully) signing up for the blog. You can find it on the subscribe page, or download it here: https://BookHip.com/CMSVSNK

Until next time!
