It’s the first day of spring, and here in my part of Minnesota, it actually feels like it. We don’t have much snow left, and everything looks a little… dull right now. Brown grass, all the garbage the snow was hiding suddenly in plain sight, mud everywhere—it’s kind of a gloomy vibe, especially on cloudy days.
But the weather is warming up, the sun will dry everything out, and pretty soon the trees will start getting their leaves again.
I like fall best, but there’s something about a new season that feels like a fresh start. You just never know what life has in store.
I should be getting my final proof of WICKED GAMES today! 👀 I made a few small tweaks to the formatting (including a blog post and an interview!) and adjusted the cover just a bit. Once everything looks good, I’ll be ordering paperback ARC copies. 📚
I’m really excited about that since it’s something I’ve never done before. I’ll still offer ebooks like I usually do, but sending out a few paperback ARCs feels like something special. I’m so proud of how this book turned out, and I can’t wait for you all to see it.
While I’ve been waiting, I’ve been re-editing my Cedar Hill Duet. I love those characters so much, and they deserve this glow-up. New edits, new covers… yep. They deserve it.
And of course, I have a new story rattling around in my brain. Beckett and Sloane won’t leave me alone—in the best way possible. I teased their story a while back (like… last year 😅), so it’ll be nice to finally “skate” into the world of hockey. 🏒
Have a great first day of spring, and keep an eye out for WICKED GAMES ARCs soon! ♥️
Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you’re all able to relax a little and spend some quality time with your loved ones this weekend! I’m not doing too much . . . working my day job and then the kids wanted to order calzones for dinner. That saves me from having to cook, so that sounded perfect to me!
I’m excited to start teasing the cover for Wicked Games! I’m currently working on getting the ARCs ready, and I’ll share more details here when they’re available. Wicked Games will be releasing in May, so mark your calendars, subscribe to the blog, and follow me on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/stores/VM-Rheault/author/B0B1QSXVK4

And I can’t forget to show off Pim! I think she matches Wicked Games’ cover!
Thanks for reading! Have an amazing rest of your weekend!
Hey friends! 🎄 I hope you survived the Christmas craziness and that you’re able to relax this weekend!
Just a quick heads-up—His Frozen Heart (A Rocky Point Wedding, Book 1) is FREE on Kindle today, December 27th, and tomorrow, December 28th.
If you’re looking for a steamy little escape in a small Minnesota town where everyone knows your business and the temperatures will give you frostbite, this is the perfect time to grab it. Four books in the completed series will keep you turning pages well into the new year! 📚✨
All the books in the series are available on Kindle, in Kindle Unlimited, and Paperback and you can find them here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D91D7RZ
We had a lovely Christmas, and I hope you did too. Everyone got a little something they wanted, and we bought Pim a set of catnip-filled mice. We ended up having to take all the garland off the tree because she was eating it like spaghetti, but luckily we caught her in enough time she didn’t get sick. We’ll have to remember for next year to keep our decorations to a minimum.
Happy New Year! I hope you all have an amazing 2026! 🎉 🥳 🎆
❤️ Are you ready for Black Friday with Fictional Heroes?! 150+ F-R-E-E and 99¢ ebooks, plus direct sales for ebooks, audiobooks, paperbacks, and more! ❤️
Happy October! There’s been a lot going on in my corner of the world and I thought I would pop into your inbox and say hey!
Last Sunday my sister, daughter, and I went on our yearly road trip to Maplewood State Park near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. It was a lovely drive and the temperatures were just right. The trip actually did double duty, though I didn’t know at the time. One, to get out of the city to look at the leaves as it’s peak leaf-viewing season here, but two, driving through Pelican Rapids was something I needed but didn’t know I needed until I did it, if that makes sense. I’m working on a new book right now and it’s set in a small, northern Minnesota town. The vibes of Pelican Rapids fit just right. The quiet Main Street, the schools, the tiny fire department. It will be a perfect backdrop for my angsty contemporary romance. They also had a giant pelican statue (his name is Pete) that probably won’t make it into my book, but he was fun to look at just the same.
Loss and Damages has been out for three weeks, and the launch has been great! I’ve been getting really lovely feedback from all who have read it so far. If you grabbed an ARC, now would be the perfect time to leave a review. I appreciate your time and willingness to share! 💕
I’ve decided to release Wicked Games in May of 2026! I know that’s a bit of a wait, but I wanted to give you a heads up. I’ll be doing the cover reveal, ARCs, and all that good stuff here, so be sure to subscribe if you haven’t or bookmark this site to check back.
Wicked Games is a standalone Billionaire romantic suspense, and I can’t wait for you to meet Seth and Avery!
That’s all I have for this month. I hope you’re having beautiful fall weather wherever you are!
Happy Tuesday friends! I hope the summer has been treating you well. ☀️
Just a quick update on all the things.
If you’ve been waiting for the ARCs of Loss and Damages, they’re ready to go! There are only forty copies available, so if you were thinking of picking it up, don’t wait.
ARCs will be available until July 31st and reviews won’t be needed until September 15th.
✨ Here are a few quick details: Standalone or Part of a Series: Loss and Damages is a standalone billionaire romance with a happily ever after. It’s a complete novel at around 350 printed pages.
Triggers: None that I know of. Dominic deals with some family drama/trauma, and Jemma gets roughed up while trying to stop a break-in, but nothing graphic or prolonged.
Where to Review: Amazon and Goodreads are best, since Loss and Damages will be in Kindle Unlimited. If you want to share on social media too (Instagram or Facebook), that’s awesome but not required.
What to Say: Whatever you want! If you loved it, say so. If it wasn’t your thing, that’s okay too. I really don’t mind. Honest reviews help future readers find books they’ll love.
Thank you all for picking up a copy and giving it a read. I hope Loss and Damages is a lovely part of your summer relaxation!
✨ Bonus reminder: If you’ve read my King’s Crossing serial and haven’t left a review yet, now’s a great time. Even a few quick lines for one or two books will help other readers find it.
✨ One last thing: We got a new cat named Pim! My son’s friend moved out of state and couldn’t bring her along, so we made the arrangements with our property management and adopted her! She’s adorable and loves being carried around on your shoulder. It’s been really nice to have a cat around again. 🐾
I hope everyone is doing well and that your summer so far has been full of friends, family, and good reads.
Hello friends! I hope you all are having a great week and have some lovely plans for the weekend.
The STUFF YOUR EREADER event is here today and for one day only! There are over 1600 romance books in all sub-genres and on all platforms such as Kindle, Kobo, Google Play, and Nook.
Bookmark my website or subscribe! I have a lot of news coming your way this summer including ARCs for my newest release, Loss and Damages. You don’t want to miss out. ☺️
Now that I have your attention, I just wanted to pop on here quick to tell you a couple things before your weekend starts! I don’t have big plans… I work Saturdays and Sundays so I can have Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays off. I think it’s a fair trade since no one likes getting up on a Monday morning and having to go to work. I’m lucky I work at a job that allows me to do that, and I have never taken it for granted.
Tonight I’ll be be editing Loss and Damages (oh, the glamorous life of a writer… but at least I’ll be in my pajamas and I have ice cream!) and going to bed early. Breathing just wipes me out, but there’s nothing better than working on my book for a couple hours in silence before going to bed.
My friend Melody is looking for ARC readers for her storm-chasing novel aptly titled, Into the Storm. It’s the fourth book in her Storm Series, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. Here’s the blurb:
He chases tornadoes, but he only wanted to catch her…
Storm chaser Austin Jones loves an adrenaline rush. With his YouTube channel gaining popularity and an opportunity to chase tornadoes on television, he’s living the dream. When a close encounter with a twister sends him to the hospital, the last person he expects to stitch him up is his high school sweetheart. Seeing her again feels like fate.
The storm that shattered Lizzie James’s life may be long gone, but the damage was never repaired. After a tornado tore through her hometown—taking her parents and destroying everything—she swore she’d never go back. Haunted by nightmares and burdened by anxiety, she’s done her best to forget that day. But when her former boyfriend ends up in her ER, the memories she buried come rushing back.
Despite every instinct telling her to stay away, Lizzie finds herself back in Texas—where Austin is eager to remind her of what they once had. But his reckless devotion to storm chasing is a risk she cannot ignore. Determined to control the situation—and maybe protect Austin from himself—Lizzie makes a bold choice. She’ll face her fears, literally, and join Austin for the chase. If she can’t stop him from risking his life, at least she can help keep him safe.
As another violent tornado threatens the region, Lizzie has a sinking feeling that Austin is about to make a dangerous call. This time, the real storm is the one inside Austin—torn between chasing the next tornado and holding on to the woman he loves. Because some storms you chase…and others you have to weather together to find out what really matters.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, here’s the Google form to be on her ARC team:
And one last thing before you head off to busy weekend plans… My King’s Crossing Serial giveaway is still going on! The giveaway includes six paperback books, a mug that has the chapter header photo with the King’s Crossing serial name on it, and a postcard that gives you digital access to My Biggest Mistake. If you’re reading this blog post, you know the link is on my Subscribe page, but you can give it to a friend if you haven’t downloaded it yourself. The giveaway has a value of $100.00 USD, so you don’t want to miss out. Here’s the link to MY form to fill out if you want to enter! It ends Monday, May 26th, and I’ll draw a name Tuesday, May 27th.
It’s been an amazing seven months as the books in my King’s Crossing serial have launched, one by one, since October. That seems so far away now, before winter came and went, before all the holidays. But the time has gone by quickly too, which is bittersweet. I had a lot of fun writing these books, hyping them up, and sharing them with all of you.
Shattered Dreams, the sixth and final book of my King’s Crossing serial, is now available. Find out how Stella and Zane, and Gage and Zarah put the past behind them once and for all.
Zarah made it clear she wants space to do her own thing, but that doesn’t mean any of this is over. Zane asks Pop and me to look into another murder, and I reluctantly agree. We find some interesting evidence at the crime scene, pointing fingers at people I never considered could be a part of it all. When Zarah’s therapist kidnaps her, Zane, Stella, and I race against time to figure out where they could have gone, and what she wants with Zarah. What we find will change my life forever.
Zarah
Breaking up with Gage was the biggest mistake of my life, and he’s the only person I can call when I’m in trouble. Despite getting back together, he still encourages me to go through with a trip I had planned. Jerricka intercepts me at the airport, and she knows just the right buttons to push to convince me to go with her instead. Revealing secrets from the past seven years, she explains the real reason why Ash locked me away in Quiet Meadows, why my memories have disappeared, and what she plans to do with me. I know, without a doubt, if she gets her way, I won’t survive.
Books 1-3 are still on sale if you haven’t started the series or would like to pick them up to keep. They’re also available in Kindle Unlimited and Paperback. You can look at the whole series here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CX7SFGB5
Thank you for being a part of this series! I appreciate all the reviews and shares on social media of which there have been many. Though it’s sad to say goodbye to the characters who live in King’s Crossing, for the next little while I’ll be focusing on getting a standalone ready to go. There’s always something new so remember to subscribe to the blog to get updates on sales, new releases, and more. Also, since you’re here, don’t forget to download your free book, My Biggest Mistake, a full-length standalone ugly duckling billionaire romance. You can grab it here: https://BookHip.com/CMSVSNK
Thanks again! You’ve made the launch of this series amazing! ♥︎
Today is #ThrowbackThursday and I wanted to give you a glimpse of my first books that I published when I decided to write under my initials.
I grew up reading Nora Roberts, a fact that I’ve shared on this page before, so I was very familiar with her writing. I also grew up reading lots of Harlequin Desires and Temptations, Susan Mallery, Robin Carr, and Jennifer Crusie. (Bet Me is still one of my most favorite books ever! https://www.amazon.com/Bet-Me-Jennifer…/dp/B000FC1A8O ) As a reader, you don’t really think about what point of view or tense books are written in, you just pick up books based on if you’re read the author before, if you like the cover and blurb, or off a friend’s/family member’s recommendation.
That changes when you decide to write your own books, and not only that, what the market wants. I started writing in third person past because that’s what I grew up reading and that’s what a lot of my writer friends who are around my age also say. But, if you read as much as you write, you begin to notice a shift in what’s being published and not only that, but what’s 𝘱𝘰𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳. Because as a writer, not only do you want to write “the book of your heart” you want people to want to read it.
So while I loved writing in third person, in 2020 I decided to start writing first person present, as that’s what a lot of romance authors were writing.
I went around and around for a while because writing third person and first person is different and I didn’t know if I would be good at it. I started small, a short story that I actually give away as an easter egg, and then I felt comfortable enough to write a book. That book was actually the first book of my King’s Crossing series, 𝑪𝒓𝒖𝒆𝒍 𝑭𝒂𝒕𝒆, but that series wasn’t the first I published.
During the pandemic I wrote quite a few books then went back and edited them to publish.
Writing 𝑪𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝑯𝒆𝒓 was fun. I did a lot of research on constructions sites, trying to figure out a way that would hurt Rick to the point he would never be the same but that wouldn’t actually kill him. I also wanted to add a mystery to his accident, one that Devyn, a reporter he meets during a blizzard, has the tenacity to solve.
It was supposed to be a standalone, but that never works out well for me, and it turned into a duet and the second book features Rick’s business partner Beau and Devyn’s sister Talia. 𝑨𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑯𝒆𝒓 has a fun easter egg inside it no one has found, at least, as far a I can tell. But I’m still proud of myself for thinking of it and it makes a great way to use that short story because I wouldn’t have had a use for it otherwise.
So this Throwback Thursday I’m featuring my Cedar Hill Duet, the first books I published when I changed to writing first person present.
If you want to read them, they are available on Kindle, in Kindle Unlimited, and Paperback.
