Welcome to King’s Crossing: A Sneak Peek at Book Five

I’m actually not even sure what to say about book five (she says then ends up writing a 800 word post). Book four ends on a huge cliffhanger, and not everyone is going to like that. That’s fine, and I understood it when I was finished writing it. Like books one through three, where books one and two end on a cliffhanger, books four and five do the same and book six ties it all up.

I don’t know why I wrote a series like this, except that’s how the story came to me, and that’s how I broke up the books while I was writing them. I don’t think I’ll even write another series like this, where a reader has no choice but to start at book one to understand everything that’s going on. Most of my trilogies/series do have some kind of subplot that spans all the books, like my Ghost Town trilogy (who really killed Derrick, and why?), but my Lost & Found trilogy can be read out of order and it wouldn’t take away from your experience too much.

It’s a tricky thing, telling a potential reader they have to start at book one. It can be daunting for that reader if they haven’t read that author before, and it can be expensive, in both money and time. It’s why I started blogging about these books. I wanted to start talking about them, putting information out there, so when they start releasing (or if you’re interested in reading the ARCs when they’re available) you’ll know if it’s something you want to invest in.

Book five picks up two weeks after book four, and if you’re reading these as they release, I apologize in advance. You’ll want to know what Gage is going to do the second book four ends, but book five’s blurb will warn you things will be anything but okay.

Book five could have been considered the “murky middle” of their story, but never once was I slowed down while writing or struggled to figure out where their story was going. If I didn’t know what Zarah and Gage’s story was going to be about when I started thinking about book four, I had no trouble once I started writing. I knew everything that needed to happen to get them from point miserable to point happily ever after.

Here’s the cover and blurb for book five:

Gage

When Zarah had her breakdown, I thought we were over. But I’m a tenacious SOB, and I’m not giving up on her that easily.

It doesn’t matter if someone blows up my truck as a warning to stay away from her.

Pop and I don’t stop investigating what was happening at Quiet Meadows, and after Zarah and I look around the sanatorium to see if it will help loosen some of her memories, I’m convinced the facility is the key to it all.

But there’s more against us than just Zarah’s past, and when she walks away, I have no choice but to let her go and try like hell not to look back.

Zarah

I’m not getting better. My memory is slipping away, and it scares me. The only constant in my life is Gage, but because of my uncertain future, being with him doesn’t bring the joy it could have.

As Gage and his father investigate the deaths of previous patients of Quiet Meadows, I dig into my own past, and we realize there was more to my parents’ plane crash, Max’s murder, and Ash locking me away than we thought.

Through it all, I can’t stop thinking Gage could do better than a broken, damaged girl like me, and believing I’m doing the right thing, I let him go.

What I didn’t understand is I’m stronger with him, and now I have to face the danger I’m in alone.

I know the blurbs give a lot away, and I wrote them knowing they did. But I’ve read blurbs so vague they didn’t tell me anything about the book and how can you want to read a book if you don’t know what it’s about? Perhaps it’s my own downfall as I’ve never cared about spoilers. They don’t ruin the story for me. In fact, hearing huge plot points only makes me want to read the book or watch the show or movie even more. Because you can learn of a specific event, but you’re always going to want to know what happened before and what happened after. Can a 200 word summary ruin a book? Let me know.

As always, thank you giving me a read! I hope you’re getting excited for these… I know I am. Thank you for stopping by and don’t forget to pick up your free copy of My Biggest Mistake. If you’d like, subscribe to the blog so you don’t miss out on upcoming news of my series. Have a great day!
